Charles Darwin really did nearly become a vicar. The rest of the strip is anachronistic. In 1822 Mary Ann Mantell finds the teeth of one of the first officially recognized dinosaurs (the Iguanodon) in stones meant for a road in Cuckfield (Sussex, England) and it will only be in the late 19th century that the first T-Rex fossils will be discovered, in the United States, so long after Charlie’s childhood.
